Hundreds of bus stops have disappeared from Groningen in recent years. The OV-bureau said this was intended to provide faster connections and a more attractive network, while Stichting Groninger Dorpen feared that residents of small villages would increasingly lose access to essential services. Director Hielke Westra said everyone ultimately had the right to a connection to facilities farther away.
