Closure of the West Bank after shooting near Hebron

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the complete closure of the occupied West Bank after a shooting near Hebron involving Israeli troops and two Palestinian gunmen, who the Israeli army said it had shot dead. The army described an anti-terrorism operation involving soldiers and border police, while roadblocks were erected and Palestinian sites in the area were closed.

One report said five Israelis were injured, including two critically. Netanyahu ordered Hebron to be closed immediately and said security forces should prepare for a full West Bank closure; reports said the closure was to begin on Friday, with no indication of how long it would last.
