A church in Melick is set to be converted into apartments as more churches in Limburg are withdrawn from worship. The province once had 360 churches serving villages or neighbourhoods; more than 80 have already been decommissioned or are empty. Further closures are expected in the coming years, meaning the familiar ringing of church bells will also disappear in affected places.
