Christa Pike made her first public statement since surviving a failed execution attempt on September 30. She said she had experienced continuous physical and mental pain since then and was recovering but was not well.

One report, however, said that Pike stated she had not been in pain, contradicting the other accounts. A single report said she also had difficulty speaking and psychological complaints following the attempt.
