Actress and director Carly Wijs, 60, raised her son alone. She said that putting him first had been difficult for many men. Now that he is living in rooms, Wijs is entering a new phase of life and said she is looking forward to it, even if she remains single.

Wijs also said she was comfortable describing herself as an old maid.
