A car left the Oostvaardersdijk between Lelystad and Almere on Friday morning and came to rest on rocks at the foot of the dike, near viewpoint De Kuifeend on the Markermeer side. The vehicle was badly damaged, but no one was injured.

The cause is unknown. The incident was believed to have involved no other vehicles and briefly closed one lane; other traffic was not delayed.
