Childhood overweight was reported to be more prevalent in the Achterhoek than nationally, particularly in the municipality of Oude IJsselstreek, where one in five children aged 8 to 12 was reported to be overweight. A region-wide campaign aimed to raise awareness among children and parents about healthy food. As part of the campaign, children at primary school IKC De Wijssel received cooking lessons on Thursday.
