The cabinet proposed removing legal exemptions that allow municipalities not to collect organic waste separately. Minister Stientje van Veldhoven set out the proposal in a letter to the House of Representatives.

Separate collection of organic waste is already compulsory. The proposal is intended to make municipal waste streams more uniform nationwide.
