The cabinet wants primary and secondary schools to ban students from using mobile phones anywhere on school premises from 1 January 2027. The proposed restriction would cover classrooms, breaks, auditoriums and schoolyards. Many schools currently prohibit phones only in the classroom. Caroline van der Plas criticized colleagues over the issue.
