The cabinet advised schools to ban mobile phones throughout the school day. Educational organisations reacted differently to the advice. The Secondary Education Council, which represents secondary schools, said about 57% of schools already have a policy restricting phones and that this share is rising. It said there is no evidence that the stricter advice would accelerate that trend.
