Bus lane remains closed to cars at Loobrug

Alderman Susanne Schilderman (D66) is still not planning to open the Polderland Bridge to cars, despite requests from residents and politicians. The Loobrug is closed and needs to be replaced. The replacement, which was due to be completed by the end of the year, has been delayed until March 2028 at the latest, meaning cars must continue taking a route that is up to four kilometres longer.

Delayed replacement of the Loo Bridge in De Meern

2 sources

The replacement of the Loo Bridge in De Meern has been delayed, with the municipality of Utrecht expecting it to reopen to car traffic no earlier than the end of 2027, and possibly in early 2028. This is at least a year later than previously expected. The municipality said the work is more complicated than anticipated and acknowledged that earlier planning had been too optimistic. The adjacent bicycle bridge will also have to close temporarily during the works.
