Three burglars broke into Jeweller van Stegeren in central Best at about 4.30am on Friday. They caused damage at the entrance and took several items of jewellery before leaving shortly afterwards; the owner did not disclose the value or full extent of the haul.

No one was injured, and the owner said customers’ jewellery left for repair had not been taken. The shop is temporarily closed while repairs are carried out and is expected to reopen on Tuesday.
