At least six burglaries were reported in Holten and the surrounding area at the end of September, prompting concern in neighbourhood messaging groups. Multiple residents had belongings stolen.

In nearby Laren, a camera recorded a man entering a house while its occupants slept. Cash, a PlayStation and a soundbar were stolen. He may also have been involved in the incidents in Holten.
