Breda pub crawl cancelled over crowding concerns

The organizers of the Bredase Night Horeca Crawl cancelled the planned pub crawl in Breda on 11 November after the municipality said it was concerned that the event would add to crowds in the city centre at the start of the carnival season. The crawl was scheduled for 18:11 to 23:11, when the municipality expected the busiest period. No permit application had been submitted, so no permit was formally refused, but the municipality told the organizers that the event was undesirable and discussed alternatives with them.

The organizers had already printed stamp cards and distributed flyers and posters. They said ticket holders would be refunded. Individual cafés may still hold carnival activities if these fall within their hospitality permits and do not affect public space. The municipality said the 11 November celebrations would include two stages on the Grote Markt to help spread visitors, with activities at the town hall and music and entertainment on Grote Markt Zuid.
