After residents criticised the lack of support for neighbourhood prevention, Breda removed the waiting list for new neighbourhood prevention groups. Alderman Eddie Förster said a series of fires in the city, which was attributed to a suspected arsonist, showed the importance of residents’ eyes and ears.

Breda will not hold a central professional fireworks show this year, during the first national ban on fireworks for private individuals. The city will provide information on request, while the city council has expressed opposition to the ban.
