Brabant municipalities prepare for the national fireworks ban

Private individuals and local and village associations in 51 municipalities in Brabant were reported to be barred from setting off fireworks for the first time under the new national ban. Only Geertruidenberg, Laarbeek and Gemert-Bakel were said to be open to initiatives, although Geertruidenberg’s deadline had passed without applications. Municipalities cited a lack of enforcement officers and police, as well as limited preparation time, as reasons for the restrictions.
The same local news roundup also reported that a roof on Kanaaldijk North-East in Helmond had been furnished as a living area for homeless people, with the municipality saying nuisance elsewhere had decreased while nearby businesses expressed concern. It also featured Breda DJs Tiësto, Hardwell and R3HAB in a list of wealthy DJs, and accounts from former radio pirates Ronny Balk and Hubert Mol about turning their illegal broadcasting hobby into professional work.
