A drawing teacher named Patricia organized a campaign to send birthday cards to Truus from Enschede for her 100th birthday. The report said Truus has no family and that her birthdays had become quieter because of her age.

Cards and messages arrived from the Netherlands, Sweden and Thailand, and Patricia said she was pleased with the response.
