The planned construction of a bicycle bridge over the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal at Nieuwer Ter Aa will not go ahead for the time being. The Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management considers other projects in the Netherlands more important. Residents of the village said they were not concerned, as they considered the bridge too expensive, but they wanted the ferry to Breukelen to continue operating. Its future is uncertain.
