Fireworks are banned in Baarle-Nassau, while they remain permitted about 20 metres away in the Belgian enclave of Baarle-Hertog, according to the account. Baarle-Hertog has seven fireworks shops for a population of about 3,000, and Dutch customers were described as travelling there to buy fireworks.
