Attacks damage Ukrainian department stores as residents prepare for winter

Russian attacks have recently damaged warehouses, distribution centres, post offices and department stores in Ukraine, including four Epitsentr locations in a few days. One shopping centre in northern Kyiv was hit by several ballistic missiles this week. Epitsentr’s operational director, Maksim Sjeremet, said the company had changed its logistics after distribution centres were destroyed, with goods remaining in trucks until delivery and supplies becoming more limited. Some stores remain open and move employees and customers to shelters during air alerts.

The attacks have affected businesses selling items used to prepare for winter, such as fuel canisters, gas burners, power banks and generators. Ukrainian intelligence services have reportedly identified plans for attacks on electricity, heating, water and sewer systems. Kyiv residents are preparing for possible further strikes, while Ukraine is awaiting Patriot interceptor missiles and has insufficient air defence for large-scale, prolonged attacks, according to the account. Since the start of the full-scale invasion, 23 Epitsentr locations have reportedly been destroyed, while 59 branches remain open.
