Attack in eastern Congo killed at least 33 people
◆1 source
An attack by militants from the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) in Cantine, North Kivu province, reportedly killed at least 33 people. Houses were burned and looted, according to a local social organisation, while the director of a local hospital said residents had heard gunfire and seen nearby houses set on fire.
Residents fled to other parts of the province. Among those who left were an Ebola patient and about 180 people who may have been infected and had been receiving care at the hospital. The hospital director said high-risk cases and other monitored patients had also fled, raising concerns about the spread of the virus.
