Arwin van Wilgenburg’s young daughter suddenly stopped speaking. Van Wilgenburg, from Hoevelaken, is preparing to work as a deaf pastor and is due to lead his first sign language service at the end of October.

He knows the signs for “God” and “peace”, but is still practicing the name signs for various biblical figures. He described sign language as highly physical and visual, almost like theatre.
