Suspected planned killings in Amsterdam and Haarlem

10 sources

The Public Prosecution Service suspects two men aged 18 and 19 of travelling to the Netherlands in July to carry out planned killings in Amsterdam and Haarlem. Reports disagree on whether they travelled from Copenhagen or from Sweden. Prosecutors described the pair at a preliminary hearing as young recruits used for such killings; one report identified the 19-year-old suspect as Walid A. A shooting in Amsterdam, on Slauerhoffstraat in Slotermeer according to one report, left the intended target unharmed. Police previously prevented the planned attack in Haarlem by arresting a suspect. A single report said a 24-year-old woman from Dieren is also suspected of supplying weapons for the two planned killings.

Police later arrested a 32-year-old man at a home on Jan Pieter Heijestraat in Amsterdam-West on suspicion of involvement. He is being held under restrictions, and police have not said what role he may have had in the shooting.
