Polish police arrested a 55-year-old Russian man on suspicion of espionage after he was allegedly found photographing trains and railway infrastructure near an unguarded crossing in Świdnica, southwestern Poland. A court ordered him held for three months.
Police said they seized professional photographic equipment and data storage devices containing hundreds of thousands of files, including images of important infrastructure and transport facilities in Poland and elsewhere. They suspect he intended to pass the material to a foreign intelligence service. He faces at least five years in prison if convicted.
