Arrest over alleged assistance to Canadian school shooter

◆3 sources

US authorities arrested a 30-year-old person in Washington state in connection with the February shooting at a school in Tumbler Ridge, Canada. Reports describe the suspect inconsistently as a woman or as James Cody Bryant, and one report says prosecutors in Seattle allege the person had been in contact with the shooter, Jesse Van Rootselaar, for at least six months and gave advice. Van Rootselaar, 18, killed her mother and half-brother at home before killing five children and a teacher at her former high school, according to one report. Twenty-five other people were injured, and she then killed herself. The arrested person is suspected of assisting or conspiring with the shooter.
