Fryslân’s poet laureate Arjan Hut published the poem ‘Shanti, shanti’, freely based on work by Louis Paul Boon. The poem was inspired by Boon’s 1946 book My Little War and T.S. Eliot’s 1922 long poem The Waste Land. The title uses the Sanskrit word for peace. Hut regularly draws on current events in his poetry.
