Appeal ruling over threats at De Coppele primary school

The Court of Appeal in Den Bosch sentenced a 22-year-old man from Oisterwijk to nine months in prison for threatening two teachers at De Coppele primary school in Oisterwijk in November 2023. The sentence matched the time he had already served, so he does not have to return to prison.
The man entered the school while it was closed, went into a classroom and told the teachers he had a bomb and a firearm, while using threatening language. The court found that he had acted impulsively while intoxicated and that there was no evidence of a terrorist motive, radicalisation or an extremist ideology. It did not impose the suspended portion of a sentence or related conditions ordered at an earlier stage, noting that he has been under probation supervision for more than two years, completed clinical treatment and begun reintegration support.
