Construction of a new apartment complex is scheduled to begin in early 2027 on a vacant site next to Papendrecht town hall. The old buildings on the site were demolished in 2012, and the area has since mainly been used as an extension of the market square. The development is planned to include 36 dwellings and catering facilities. The redevelopment had been discussed for more than 15 years, but construction has now been announced to start.
