Antoinette Rijpma-de Jong’s plans to combine skating and track cycling

2 sources

Antoinette Rijpma-de Jong began her new speed-skating season after winning Olympic gold in the 1,500 metres in Milan in February. The 31-year-old said she still believes she can improve and opened her season at the 1,500 metres in Thialf. She also aims to compete in track cycling at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, targeting the team pursuit. She said combining that ambition with speed skating will require time on the track and that she has not yet decided whether she will alter or skip a future skating season. She also said it is too early to decide on retiring from either sport.
