André Kooiman, 63, began volunteering at Hospice De Riede in Ridderkerk when it opened on 15 April. He was looking for a meaningful way to spend his free time and helps at a facility where people spend the final phase of their lives. Kooiman said he valued being able to help someone during the last part of their life.
