A campsite in Ootmarsum was empty after the VAT rate for rental accommodation rose from 9% to 21% this year. Hotels, bed-and-breakfasts and holiday parks are affected. Tourists reportedly believe the Netherlands has become much more expensive because of the increase, with German tourists facing the higher prices mainly.
