Amsterdam sports-club subsidy scheme
◆2 sources
Amsterdam has made €525,000 available next year for sports associations, matching last year’s budget. The municipality has provided annual support since 2023 and said clubs face volunteer shortages and rising costs.
Associations can use the funding to hire professional staff, strengthen their organisation or arrange social activities. Of the total, €200,000 is earmarked for hiring professionals; eligible clubs can receive multi-year support for the same role, with the subsidy gradually reduced. This year, 135 sports clubs submitted 187 applications, while several foundations also applied for funding to make sporting activities more accessible to Amsterdam residents facing barriers to participation.
