Employees and former employees celebrated the Amsterdam Museum’s 100th anniversary at the Waag on Nieuwmarkt, where the institution began in 1926 as the Amsterdam Historical Museum. Its first object was a seven-metre-high statue of Goliath; the collection now contains more than 100,000 objects. The museum moved in 1975 to the former Burgerweeshuis on Kalverstraat.
The museum is temporarily housed in the H’ART Museum while its former building is renovated. The renovation is expected to be completed in 2030.
