Amsterdam ended its neighbourhood budget scheme, under which residents could submit local initiatives and vote on proposals for their area. Projects funded through the scheme included painted utility boxes, picnic tables and a refurbished climbing structure. Stefanie Jansen of Network De Pijp expressed disappointment, saying the scheme had helped address nuisance and supported projects that made neighbourhoods more pleasant.
