American businessman Bill White became ambassador to Belgium after Donald Trump had joked that he would send him to Haiti. He has reportedly caused controversy with outspoken social media posts that also criticized ministers and has been summoned by Belgian authorities twice.

White said he now understood that Europe was sensitive and described himself as very popular in Belgium.
