Almere plans to extend leases for Animal Care and Jumpy

The municipality of Almere plans to extend the leases of dog shelter Animal Care and dog-walking service Jumpy for ten years. Earlier, the businesses had been told that their leases would expire on 31 March 2027 because the municipality had other plans for the sites, prompting them and dog owners to seek alternatives and send letters to the municipality.
The proposed extensions still need to be formally documented and assessed for spatial feasibility. The municipality intends to keep Animal Care’s site for professional dog care and an animal boarding house, provide Jumpy with space for professional dog walking, and use a third plot for activities such as dog training and dog sports. After ten years, the sites will be reviewed against municipal policy. Jumpy’s owner welcomed the plan, while Animal Care said it remained cautious until the leases are signed.
