The Italian nature organisation Salviamo l'Orso called for calm after the Carabinieri Forestali carried out an unsuccessful search following an alleged encounter between a Dutch resident of Parrano, in Umbria, and a rare Marsican brown bear. The organisation said there was no scientific evidence that the encounter had taken place. The allegation had stirred emotions in the region for several days.
