A safari plane reportedly made a belly landing at Kilimanjaro International Airport near Arusha, Tanzania, after colliding with a zebra during takeoff from Seronera. The collision damaged the landing gear, which could not be extended, so the aircraft was diverted while en route to Zanzibar. The zebra was killed, while all 30 occupants—26 passengers and four crew members—were reported to be unharmed. Seronera Airport is located in Serengeti National Park and has a sand runway. Wild animals regularly enter the runway area.
