Aimee Boorman, who coached Simone Biles for years, was back in the Netherlands for the World Championships in Rotterdam. She had joined the Dutch team as a coach in 2021, during a period of deep crisis in gymnastics following reports of inappropriate cross-border behaviour.

Boorman said that a cultural change was taking place in gymnastics, although fundamental errors remained widespread. She said medals mattered little to her and that success meant having a gymnast who was happy.
