Adrie Vis, 56, was reported to have died while helping with a dune fire. He had preferred not to go on holiday, and in 2005, when a large fire broke out at ADCO on Goeree-Overflakkee while he and his wife were abroad, he drove directly from Rotterdam Airport to the fire station after returning to the Netherlands. The fire continued for several days, after which he unpacked his suitcase.
