An additional tax on waste-to-energy companies, intended to make waste incineration less attractive, could increase municipal charges by at least €40 per household, according to experts and waste incineration plants. They also said it could make carbon dioxide storage beneath the North Sea highly valuable. The levy was described as a legacy of previous cabinets.
