ACM approval for Videoland acquisition of Viaplay Nederland

The Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) approved Videoland’s acquisition of Viaplay Nederland. Videoland is part of DPG Media, and Viaplay will be merged with the streaming service.

The ACM said it expects no negative effects for viewers, the purchase of sports rights or advertising sales, and that sufficient competition remains. The acquisition includes Viaplay Nederland’s subscribers and sports licences, including rights to Formula 1, English football, darts and hockey; one report said Formula 1 rights run until 2029. For subscribers, nothing changes for the time being.
