A9 exit to Stadshart Amstelveen to close until early 2028

The A9 exit 5 to Stadshart Amstelveen, for traffic travelling towards Utrecht, is due to close on 26 October at 05:00 and remain closed until early 2028. Drivers from Schiphol or Haarlem will be directed to exit 4 at Ouderkerk aan de Amstel, where they can turn around via the Mayor Boersweg and take exit 5 in the opposite direction. Traffic to Amstelveen-Zuid will be diverted via exit 6, the N231 and the Beneluxbaan. The detours are expected to add three to five minutes outside rush hour, while the rush-hour impact remains unclear.

The closure is needed to create space for construction of the deeper section of the A9. Bus routes 300 and 356 will temporarily use a route through the Amsterdamse Bos and along the Amsterdamseweg, Molenweg, Graaf Aelbrechtlaan and Keizer Karelweg; no existing stops on those routes will be removed. Businesses around the centre fear lower sales. Rijkswaterstaat has made €1 million available for measures to attract visitors and improve accessibility, but the money will not compensate individual retailers for lost turnover.
