An 86-year-old woman was found dead in the North Sea between IJmuiden and Bloemendaal after she went swimming. Her husband raised the alarm from the beach when he lost sight of her. Emergency services, including a trauma helicopter, the Coast Guard and the KNRM, searched for her. A rescue officer found her at around 1:45 p.m., and attempts to resuscitate her were unsuccessful. The cause of death is not known. Police have started an investigation because the death was considered non-natural. The location was earlier described as being between IJmuiden and Overveen, but was later given as between IJmuiden and Bloemendaal.
