Eneco Tour cycling race

12 sources

The six-day Eneco Tour brought women’s and men’s races together on the same routes, beginning with a prologue in The Hague in which starts by women and men alternated. Lieke Nooijen won the women’s prologue and later reclaimed the overall lead by winning the Tilburg time trial. She retained the lead after Femke Markus won the Sittard-Watersley stage and Letizia Borghesi won the VAM mountain stage. Nooijen began the final stage around Arnhem with a 38-second advantage over Markus. Jakob Söderqvist led the men’s classification after winning both the prologue and the Tilburg time trial, but Victor Campenaerts was reported as the men’s leader at the start of the final stage. No final overall results were reported. Organisers equalised prize money for the women’s and men’s races after criticism that the original amounts differed. During the women’s final stage, a video report showed a major crash in the peloton, without giving further details on injuries or its effect on the race.

Marianne Vos wins Gravel World Championships

9 sources

Marianne Vos won the Gravel World Championships in Nannup, Australia, claiming her second world title in the discipline and her 15th cycling world title overall. The 39-year-old Dutch rider finished solo after 126 kilometres, largely on unpaved roads. Vos had been riding with Germany's Rosa Klöser late in the race, but Klöser crashed a few kilometres from the finish. Vos said the course was muddier than expected and described the title as special after a difficult year.
