Volunteers provide companionship to dying patients at Helmond hospital

Peggy and Gerry volunteer at Elkerliek Hospital in Helmond, where they watch over patients in their final days. They do so when patients’ neighbors need a few hours of rest, offering presence and comfort during the last stage of life.

Peggy described placing her hand on a dying woman’s forehead and wishing her a good journey. She said that a man remains a human being even when he is dying.
