Israeli military investigations into alleged abuses remain undisclosed

An investigation found that 254 incidents in Gaza, Lebanon, the occupied West Bank and Israel, occurring between 7 October 2023 and 19 August 2026, were said by the Israeli army to have been examined or investigated. More than 200 of the incidents were reported to have resulted in at least one death, but the outcomes have not been made public, and some investigations date back three years.
One cited case concerned the deaths of Palestinian mother and daughter Samar and Nahida Anton at the Holy Family Church in Gaza two months after the war began. The army said the incident was still under investigation nearly three years later. Yesh Din, an Israeli human rights organisation that monitors military investigations, said the army often delays such proceedings. The army said it takes allegations of abuse seriously and that disciplinary measures had been taken against personnel involved in crimes.
