Anniek Huijbregts, 39, from Reusel has started making craft muesli from oats grown on her family’s farm. She runs the arable farming business with her brother-in-law alongside her father’s traditional crops, including vegetables and potatoes. A few years ago, Huijbregts also experimented with growing peanuts and making peanut butter, reportedly as one of the first people in the Netherlands to do so. The proceeds were disappointing, and she said the country’s cool, wet climate creates major challenges for peanut cultivation.
