A major road project is being prepared at the Batadorp interchange near Best, where the Aarlesche Heide underpass beneath the A58 will be replaced by a wider passage. The current underpass has one lane in each direction; the planned version will have two car lanes in each direction, a two-way bus lane and a two-way cycle path. Ecological crossings for animals are also planned at both ends. A temporary route is being built so traffic can continue during work at Eindhoven-Noord. Preparations are also starting to widen Erica in Best and the Spottersweg in Eindhoven.

The project is intended to improve access to northwest Eindhoven and surrounding sites, including the planned ASML campus at the BIC Noord extension, which ASML wants to use from 2028. The changes are also expected to improve access to Philips Medical Systems in Best, the barracks in Oirschot, Eindhoven Airport, the Brainport Industries Campus and business park Westfields. The design takes possible future widening of the A58 into account, so the underpass would not need to be substantially modified if the motorway is widened.
