Gas extraction beneath the Wadden Sea from Moddergat, Lauwersoog and Vierhuizen remained within the agreed subsidence limits in 2025, and no damage to nature in the Wadden Sea or Lauwersmeer was reported.

The limits are nevertheless approaching. An independent supervisory committee recommends examining what this means for the planned phase-out of gas extraction.
